Refuge for a Single Mom

Do your kids say this a lot?  Mine do!

Do you say it?  I do!  Not so much any more, but I still think it sometimes!

It can be very frustrating when you do and do for everyone else and you seem to get nothing in return.  Not even gratitude.  Not even a `Thank You`!

Moms especially have it rough.  We do for our kids, our parents, (I still help my ex-husband from time to time), our jobs, our co-workers, our friends, our neighbors, our church, the kids` school, the elderly, the sick, the hungry . . .

"Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.   “So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. “But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.  Matthew 6:1-4

Sometimes; we, as human beings, as women, can get very weary and even disheartened.  The enemy uses this.  He will try to attack us and convince us that we aren`t appreciated.  (Sometimes he does a really good job too!)  *wink*  The enemy would have us cheated out of the blessings that God promises us!  And he did not delight in blessing, so it was far from him.  Psalm 109:17  `He did not delight in blessing` ~ He didn`t bless others.  `So it was far from him` ~ He did not receive blessings in return.  In fact it says `it was far from him` ~ FAR!

What we have to remember here is that this is an excellent way to be!  This is the way Christ would have us be.  Doers.  Givers. Blessings to Others!  To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit; not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you might inherit a blessing.  I Peter 3:8-9

The Lord promises to bless us for generosity and kindness.  Be a blessing Sisters!  Step out in your faith and your love of God and bless others!  The generous man will be prosperous, And he who waters will himself be watered.  Proverbs 11:25

Let the love of God shine through you like a light unto men.  There are so many lost and hurting souls in this world.  They don`t know God`s love.  We have a duty to show them ~ to be a vessel.  If we as Christians don`t show God`s love and kindness to others, not only will they not see God`s love ~ they may wander further away!  “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.  Matthew 5:14-16
